We opened BUDDY BUDDY's first American coffee bar at 340 Bowery in December 2025, on the block where NoHo starts turning into the East Village. A year of mornings here has taught us the neighborhood the way only a coffee bar learns it — by who walks in, when, and what they're on their way to. This is our corner of it.
Start here (we're biased)
340 Bowery, between Great Jones and Bond. We're the world's first nut butter coffee bar — born in Brussels in 2020 — and the menu is built on drinks you can't get anywhere else in New York: Le Buddy (peanut butter, oat mylk, espresso, raw cacao), the Matcha Buddy, the Almond Butter Chai, and an iced praline line for the chocolate-inclined. Everything can be made hot or iced. We open at 7 on weekdays, 8 on weekends, and the room is calmest before 9:30.
Then wander
Great Jones Street is one of the best two-block walks in Manhattan — the old firehouse, the ghost of Basquiat's studio at number 57, cast-iron warehouses that survived every wave of the neighborhood's reinvention.
Bond Street, one block south, is NoHo's showpiece: Belgian block paving and a run of landmarked lofts that make it the most photographed street in the district.
The Merchant's House Museum on East 4th is the neighborhood's time capsule — an 1832 rowhouse kept exactly as one family left it, five minutes from our door.
Elizabeth Street Garden, ten minutes south, is the pocket of green the whole area fights to keep. Take an iced Buddy.
Bowery itself is the argument between old and new New York, conducted in architecture — flophouse-era buildings next to glass condos, with the New Museum anchoring the south end.
Coffee crawl honesty
NoHo and its borders are dense with serious coffee — the roaster-cafés of the East Village, the espresso bars of Nolita. We're not going to pretend to be neutral about our neighbors, so we'll say only this: nobody else on the island puts nut butter in the drink. For everything else, walk two blocks in any direction and you'll do well.
